FACCE-Evolve Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change Coordination and Support Action 2 - FACCE-Evolve

Program: Horizon2020

Project code: 652612/17.02.2015

Duration: 2015-2018

Coordinator: INRA France

Budget: 56 250,00 eur

Main objective: The Coordination and Support Action FACCE-Evolve prepares, supports and accelerates the successful continuation and strengthening of the Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI). Completely integrated within the FACCE-JPI, FACCE-Evolve will support the organisation and management of FACCE-JPI, therefore allowing it to align national research programming in order to address the societal challenges of sustainable agriculture and food security against the continuous threat brought by climate change plus the interconnected environmental and demographic changes expected in the near future.

Specific objectives: With the general aim of allowing FACCE-JPI to progress beyond the current state of play and to develop a set of means destined to ensure its durability, FACCE-Evolve will pursue a set of specific objectives. In particular FACCE-Evolve will provide decision and implementation tools to support the JPI Governing Board (GB) in order to:

  • Implement the FACCE-JPI Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) and Implementation Plan (IP);
  • Strengthen synergies between national programmes through alignment of Member States in the programming process around a common SRA and promote national ownership of FACCE-JPI;
  • Perpetuate the continuum of actions initiated within the framework of the 1st CSA and thereby contribute to the alignment of national research programming;
  • Investigate different options for self-sustainability and test the most suitable ones;
  • Develop a new organisation and render self-sustainable the FACCE-JPI Secretariat and provide the necessary organisational and management tools;
  • Investigate and develop novel processes and tools to support uptake of the SRA and its updates as well as the bi-annual implementation plans and monitor effective harmonisation, integration and alignment of national research programming, to enable evidence-based policy making and effective cross-policy actions;
  • Provide support to the GB to implement the increasing number of new joint actions proposed in the Implementation Plan and to oversee and monitor their functioning;
  • Pursue ongoing coordination with Horizon 2020 objectives with a scale and scope of action that should go well beyond what either the EU or Member States can achieve on their own;
  • Ensure the perpetuation of an effective, enriching dialogue with European and international stakeholders and form partnerships when deemed desirable;
  • Further strengthen the international dimension and visibility of the JPI to be addressed through a strong communication and dissemination strategy and by ensuring coherence with other relevant international initiatives.
