Program NUCLEU: Researches regarding the determination of chemical contaminants in food coming from the environment and processing techniques using high performance, chromatographic methods. Investigating the possibilities of reducing the level of contamination in order to obtain safe food - acronym ACRIPAD

Contract no.: 48N/2012

Project code: PN 12 48 03 01

Contracting authority: Ministry of Research and Innovation

Period of project completion: : 03.06.2013-10.12.2014

Budget: 1.787.442 lei

The objective of the project: Use of spectrometric and chromatographic techniques to establish the authenticity of products obtained from medicinal and aromatic plants. Elaboration of a specific method and its adaptation to the complex matrices of food supplements.

Specific objectives:

  • Establishing the NMR spectrum (specific imprint) of the essential and fatty oils commonly encountered as ingredients in dietary supplements;
  • Identification of specific biochemical markers and elaboration of the method for detecting foreign structures from counterfeit food supplements;
  • Adaptation of chromatographic and spectroscopic methods in order to analyze the complex matrices (liquids and solids) of the food supplements and to establish the authenticity of the products on the market;
  • Investigating the possibilities for rapid and efficient screening of food supplements, by developing applications based on NMR, IR, Raman, HPLC techniques;
